I´m enslaved by Enslaved

I´m working my way through the discography of Enslaved and are very impressed by their first albums. "Vikingligr Veldi" have combined strong melodies, great riffs, epic keyboards and breakneck speed with a progressive touch. On "Frost" they continue to mix slow, beautiful harmonies with relentless speed and energy and I especially like the song "Svarte vidder"."Eld" seems to be promising on my first listenings (fantastic intro on the 16 minutes song "Slaget om Lindisfarne")

Tulus - Biography Obscene

One of my favorite Black Metal albums is Tulus - Biography Obscene with "Celtic Frost" inspired tunes with additions of piano, violines, saxophone......and it works!
Tulus builds av violent, massive wall of pounding drums and heavy guitars with small interludes of "not-so-black-metal" instruments that adds a sinister mood to the tracks
Track listing;
  • Prelude. A beautiful violine and cello starts the song and then breaks into a powerful, crushing part with short interludes of blastbeats....and violines.
  • Natal day. Leadheavy, blatant intro with pieces of piano and acoustic guitars. There is also a absolutly fantastic guitar riff in the middle of the song
  • Stories Untold. Blastbeats mixed with a crazy violine
  • Victim. I especially like the singing and the lyrics in this tune. Great guitars
  • Chambers Disgust. Starts with a ferocious blastbeat followed by a slower, heavier part. Full stop, a beatuful piano and then back to blastbeats.I love this change in mood from absolute beauty to total mayhem
  • Allow no light. Sinister violine intro mixed with heavy guitars and great drums
  • Morbid curosity. This song reminds me of the old, metalheroes "Celtic Frost" with the mix of slow and fast parts, dirty guitars and coarse singing
  • Demise. Slow, mauling intro. In the end of the song there is some jazzy saxophone tunes
  • Biography Obscene. I love this song with great guitars and high pitch singing chorus. Parts of trumpets in the song that mixes with blastbeats.
  • Torches Quenched. Hammond organ intro followed with blastbeats and slow parts. One of few guitar solos in the albums (i am not a very big fan of guitar solos that often are very, very boring)
